Sandy Duckett

Utilities Collections & Recovery Specialist

Sandy is a highly driven blue-chip Executive with extensive experience in Utilities & Financial Services. He has been successful in numerous challenging Director roles within Utilities, Financial Services, Government Agencies and the third sector, covering Collections, Operations, Customer Services, Client Relationships and Procurement.

Sandy was responsible for collections and customer services in leading Energy, Water and Financial services firms as well as being Chairman of Citizens Advice Edinburgh for 6 years. He was recognised by Credit Today as one of the Top 50 leading professionals in utilities and telecoms in the UK.

Sandy’s experience includes leading large transformation projects including the sale of Standard Life Bank to Barclays Bank. He was key liaison to the FSA, working closely with the UK Chief Risk Officer at Standard Life.  

As a Business Owner and Executive Sponsor, Sandy has a track record of success in leading and executing major change projects that delivered or exceeded the targeted benefits whilst delivering on time and within budget.

Sandy set up his own company in 2013 serving clients including Bulb Energy, ScottishPower, Thames Water, Scottish Water Business Stream, Castle Water, HMCTS, Student Loans Company, Atos, Arum, Just & CXP.

Machine Learning & Predictive Analytics

Amjad has successfully deployed Machine Learning and AI capabilities across many organisations spanning Electricity Transmission, Utilities, Retail and Financial Services. 

In addtion to Is Anybody There?, Amjad currently leads a program at National Grid, using Machine Learning models to identify defective components in overhead lines, fittings and conductors, and corrosion on towers. He is also working closely with the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, using AI to identify invasive and non-native plant species that are damaging ecosytems in the UK.   

As a social entrepreneur Amjad cares about the sustainable funding for non-profits. He co-founded SmarterCalls, a cloud collaboration and conferencing service that raises money for good causes with every minute used on the platform.  SmarterCalls has raised money for numerous noble causes including Save the Children, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and the Marine Conservation Society. 

Amjad is an Associate of the Royal College of Science and earned his Undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Imperial College London and a Graduate degree in Modelling Biological Complexity from University College London.

He is fascinated by the ability of natural organisms to solve computational problems and how this can be applied to human systems to achieve social improvement and societal progress.
